Anne Graham – Lost City 2022

Join us for the inaugural exhibition at Sausage Gallery, featuring the powerful work Lost City 2022 by renowned artist Anne Graham.
In 2015, during a residency at The Big C Gallery in Bilpin, NSW Anne Graham was introduced by Yuri and Rae Bolotin to The Gardens of Stone. This ancient landscape, occupied by First Nation people for at least 11,000 years, is now at risk from activities such as mining and off-road vehicle use. Lost City seeks to draw attention to the beauty and vulnerability of this magical place. Graham uses discarded woollen blankets felted and dyed in landscape colours to create a contoured landscape surrounding fragments of discarded colonial architecture.
Graham lives in Kanimbla Valley on the Duiwan River she acknowledges the Wiradjuri and Gundungurra people the traditional owners of this land upon which she lives and works and pays her respect to Elders past and present and emerging. She recognises their role in caring for and maintaining Country over thousands of years. May their strength and their wisdom be with us today.
