Artist Statement
The richest man in the World, Elon Musk has a goal of launching 42,000 satellites into Earth’s low orbit. This so-called Mega Constellation will deliver high-speed internet to the World. Musk intends to fund his Moon and Mars colonisation missions with the profits. He has a vision to become a multi-planet species, with plans to build space arks to relocate the human race to Mars.
In 2018, Musk spent US $90 million sending his own Tesla Roadster car into space. Strapped in the driver’s seat and wearing a SpaceX spacesuit is a mannequin named Starman after the David Bowie song. ‘Life on Mars’, another Bowie song, played on a continuous loop on the car’s sound system. Starman is currently cruising in the constellation of Pisces.
The power of money will see this man dominate the future of our planet and the skies.
